The Campaign Begins

The campaign against the state of Chu has been long. Your army is weary, but discipline holds. You are General Wu, a disciple of the great strategist Sun Tzu. Your objective is to intercept the forces of General Meng before they can reinforce the capital.
Ahead lie two distinct paths to the enemy's position. To the east, the Yellow River is swollen with rain. To the west lies the Black Mountain Pass, a region of precipitous cliffs and narrow defiles.
Sun Tzu says: "Pass quickly over mountains... After crossing a river, you should get far away from it."
Your lieutenant, Chang, awaits your command.
