The Duke's Judgment

The marble halls of Duke Theseus's palace are cold and imposing. You stand before the Duke, your heart pounding against your ribs. Your father, Egeus, stands beside you, his face red with anger.
"Full of vexation come I!" Egeus shouts, pointing an accusing finger at you. "I beg the ancient privilege of Athens: As she is mine, I may dispose of her! Either she marries Demetrius, or she dies!"
He gestures to Demetrius, who looks smug, and then to Lysander, the man you truly love. The Duke looks down at you sternly. "What say you, Hermia? To you, your father should be as a god."
