The Heat of the Day

The afternoon sun beats down on the stone streets of Verona, making the air shimmer with heat. Benvolio and Mercutio are loitering in the public square. Benvolio is nervous; he knows the Capulets are abroad, and the heat makes people quick to anger.
Suddenly, Tybalt appears with his entourage. He is looking for you, Romeo. You arrive just as he confronts your friends. Tybalt turns his cold gaze upon you.
"Romeo," Tybalt sneers, his hand on his sword hilt. "The love I bear thee can afford no better term than this: Thou art a villain."
You have just married Juliet, Tybalt's cousin, in secret. He is now your kinsman, though he does not know it.
