You are Siddhartha. You have left the Buddha and your friend Govinda behind. For the first time, you look at the world not as a deception to be pierced, but as a beauty to be experienced.
The sun burns hot on your skin, the shade cools you. The world is radiant with colors—blue river, yellow shimmering sand, green forest. You realize that meaning is not hidden behind things, but is present in them.
You come to a wide river blocking your path to the city. A ferryman waits by his bamboo raft.
"This is a beautiful river," you say to him.
"Yes," the ferryman smiles. "I love it more than anything. One can learn much from a river."
