It is a June night in 1889. You are Dr. John Watson. You are sitting in your armchair, tired from a long day, when the bell rings. A woman rushes in—it is Kate Whitney, a friend of your wife.
She is sobbing and terrified. Her husband, Isa Whitney, has been missing for two days. She knows where he is: a dangerous opium den called the Bar of Gold in Upper Swandam Lane, a rough part of London near the river.
"I am so frightened about him!" she cries. "How can I, a timid woman, go into such a place?"
You know there is only one solution. You must go and retrieve him.
