The Admiral Benbow

The year is 17—, and your father keeps the Admiral Benbow inn on the lonely coast. Life changes the day the old seaman arrives, dragging his sea-chest behind him. He is a nut-brown man with a sabre cut across his cheek, singing his eternal song: "Fifteen men on the dead man’s chest—Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!"
He calls himself "The Captain." He spends his days watching the sea with a brass telescope and his nights drinking rum. He is a terrifying guest, but he seems afraid of something too. One day, he pulls you aside, his voice raspy and desperate.
"Jim," he whispers, pressing a silver fourpenny into your hand. "You keep your weather-eye open for a seafaring man with one leg. Let me know the moment he appears."
